Climbing for climate
What if we could witness global warming in real time?
Would we do something about it?
Ice Care is a civil society initiative aimed at making climate change visible to all.
Our challenge will consist on climbing 5 glaciers in the world (in Switzerland, Tanzania, Peru, Denmark and Nepal) between 2009 and 2012, as a way to create awareness about global warming.
These 5 glaciers were chosen based on a UNESCO recent report, highlighting world heritage sites, being dramatically threatened by global warming.
The main goal is to initiate a large scale awareness campaign, showing that the problem is already happening in some places on earth, with severe consequences to both landscape and populations.
The team of climbers will be joined by a 2nd team of researchers (environmental engineers and anthropologists) who will report the human consequences of global warming, which are rarely taken into consideration.
The results of each expedition will be broadcasted in the media and the internet, to allow everyone to become aware of the problem.
